Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham Receives $25,000 Contribution from Protective Life Foundation to Rehab Homes in Protective Stadium Neighborhoods

Neighborhood Housing Services of Birmingham, Inc. is pleased to be part of the Protecting Good Initiative and to receive a $25,000 contribution from the Protective Life Foundation. The Protecting Good Initiative was launched by Protective Life Corporation last year, in collaboration with the City of Birmingham, the State Department of Insurance, and Habitat for Humanity. Together, they work to identify ways to be a good neighbor to the Northside Birmingham residents since building the 45,000-seat, multi-purpose Protective Stadium in the heart of the community. After listening sessions with residents in the communities surrounding the stadium, the biggest need expressed by residents was help improving the condition of their homes.

Kelleigh Gamble, NHS Birmingham’s Executive Director remarked, “We are so pleased to join this initiative. NHSB has been providing housing rehab and weatherization support to Birmingham residents since 2018 through our Healthy Housing Initiative program. This program has been providing much needed repairs and weatherization upgrades for low-income residents that not only improve the ‘curb-appeal’ of the homes, but also protect the home’s interior from outside elements, reduce the cost of heating and cooling bills, and address key health and safety issues for the residents of Birmingham.”

The Protecting Good Initiative is accepting applications from residents in the following neighborhoods in the Northside community, including Druid Hills, Fountain Heights, Norwood, Evergreen, and Central City. For more information or to inquire about your home, call (205) 780-1234.
